Rahu and Ketu, the lunar nodes, are often described in dramatic terms.
They are called shadow planets, points of obsession, agents of illusion and liberation.
The language around them can become intense, and sometimes frightening.
But beneath the mythology, their function in the chart is deeply practical.
Rahu and Ketu are not physical bodies.
They are mathematical points, the intersections of the Moon’s path with the Sun’s path.
They represent the axis of unconscious movement in your life.
Where you reach without understanding why.
Where you release without fully intending to.
They show a psychological current, not a curse.
Rahu shows where you crave something intensely.
It is an area of life where you feel something is missing, and where you may overreach, overidentify, or pursue with a kind of unquenchable appetite.
Rahu is not “bad.”
It is hungry.
The problem arises when you mistake the Rahu hunger for your true path, and end up chasing something that never quite satisfies.
The gift of Rahu is ambition, innovation, and the willingness to break conventions.
The challenge is knowing when enough is enough.
Ketu sits opposite Rahu.
Where Rahu grasps, Ketu lets go.
Ketu shows an area of life where you have already lived deeply in past experiences, and where, in this life, there is a natural pull toward detachment, disidentification, or surrender.
This can look like indifference, disinterest, or a quiet sense of “I’ve already been here.”
Ketu is not “bad” either.
It is the place where you can most easily access non-attachment, if you do not mistake it for apathy.
Most people live the nodes unconsciously.
They chase Rahu and avoid Ketu, or get pulled into Ketu’s withdrawal without understanding it.
A chart reading shows you where this axis lies.
Not to make you afraid of your own hunger.
But to help you recognize it, so that it no longer drives you from the shadows.
When you see the nodal axis clearly, you can choose:
Where to invest with discernment.
Where to let go with grace.
A chart does not remove uncertainty.
It reveals the pattern inside it.
When the pattern is seen clearly, choice becomes more possible, not as force, but as alignment with time, temperament, and dharma.
If you are standing at a real crossroads and wish to examine these patterns with care, you may begin by sending the word GUIDE.
